Administration System
Custom Menu Items
Custom Menu Items view
You use the Custom Menu Items view to add custom menus to a menu tree in N4. The menu tree depends on the scope level at which the admin user logs in. For more information, see Scoping custom menu items (on page 1).
If you add a new menu at the highest supported level, you must add at least one child node for N4 to display the menu.
All new menu items must follow the naming convention CUSTOM_NODE_<MenuItemName>.
For every new menu or menu item that you create, N4 generates a new dynamic privilege based on the menu ID, following the naming convention CUSTOM_NODE_<MenuItemName>. After adding a menu or menu item, to be able to see and use it, you must add the corresponding privilege to the roles for the appropriate users. For more information, see Privileges view and Role form. See also Dynamic privileges (on page 1).
You can add, edit, and delete custom menu items in this view, provided you have the Customize UI privilege.
Notes
It is not possible to add a new menu at the work mode level (Operations, Administration, and Configuration in N4).
N4 only adds the new menu to the current scope that you are logged in to. If you log in at the Complex level, N4 displays a different menu tree than if you log in at the Facility or Yard scope level.
When you try to create a custom menu, if N4 cannot find a parent menu for some reason (for example, an invalid parent menu) N4 does not add the new menu or any of its child menu items.
If the Custom Menu Items view does not list a new menu item you created, check your user's roles and privileges and/or the scope level at which the user is logged in and at which you created the new menu item.
